Phrazle categories
Ten themes, endless puzzles. Pick a subject, and every phrase you guess comes from it.
Play Phrazle by theme
Each category is an endless Phrazle mode with phrases from one subject. The rules are the same as in the Daily puzzle: six guesses, colored tiles and the same two hints. The difference is that you know the theme before your first guess, which makes the first words much easier to find.

How the categories work
Endless puzzles
When you finish a puzzle, the next phrase from the same theme is ready. The game skips the last 50 phrases you played in that category, and it never gives you today's or yesterday's Daily answers.
Separate statistics
Each category has its own statistics, and its streak counts wins in a row until a loss. Your Daily statistics and streak never change here.
Learn the idioms
Each theme page explains what the category covers, with example idioms, their meanings and, where known, their origin.
Share a puzzle
Every category puzzle has its own link. Send it to a friend, and they get the same phrase to solve.
Which category should I choose?
If you are new to Phrazle, start with a concrete theme such as Animals, Food or Colors: their key words are short and easy to test. Time and Work & Money are full of proverbs that give advice, so they reward players who know their sayings. Everyday has no single theme and is the closest to the Daily puzzle.
Categories FAQ
Are the example idioms on the category pages used as puzzles?
No. The examples on each category page are left out of the puzzles, so reading them never spoils a game.
Do the Daily puzzles come from one category?
No. The Daily puzzles are drawn from all ten categories, and the schedule avoids two Daily puzzles in a row from the same one.
